
Job Posting: Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operations Manager
AutoGuardian By SmartCone is expanding our operations and are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic professionals to take a front seat in paving the way for Intelligent Mobility to create healthier, happier, sustainable cities. The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of AutoGuardian’s autonomous shuttle deployments and is accountable for oversight and execution of Standard Operating Procedures to include incident management policies. Candidates will serve as Autonomous Shuttle and Intelligent Infrastructure subject matter experts, manage the operational team, and be able to visually inspect tools, AV vehicles, equipment, and/or infrastructure related to the deployment. Additional responsibilities include autonomous shuttle operations in the event a Safety Attendant does not report for duty.

Essential Job Functions:
Manage and oversee operations of AutoGuardian’s autonomous fleet
Serve as the point of contact for any operational issues including the incident management process
Provide clear, effective, and meaningful communication to all appropriate levels of leadership and stakeholders through the Incident Management process
Support shift and on-call schedules
Implement software upgrades and coordinate with vendor support as needed
Educate field operations team on troubleshooting techniques
Responsible for operational integrity of multiple autonomous vehicles.
Training and supervision of On Board Safety Attendants.
Communicate with passengers onboard our shuttles to serve as an ambassador of the AV technology and infrastructure to include the route served
Confidence operating equipment with a joystick or video game controller
Quick study with the ability to understand, and keep current on, operational requirements of the autonomous shuttle
Perform/Validate vehicle inspections pre- and post- shift to ensure the safety of daily operations
Track, report, and troubleshoot shuttle performance
Monitoring the driving environment via object and event detection, recognition, classification, and response preparation
Object and event response execution
Ensure the readiness and cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and the workplace
Develop new project opportunities with the CEO, work in and manage projects prior to on site trials
Canada and US travel to project locations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor or Masters degrees in engineering or other STEM fields
4-6 years of experience in a technical field or within an IT customer support role (preferred)
Working experience in autonomous vehicle, automotive, or transit industries (preferred)
Team management experience
Project Management experience
Incident response management (preferred)
Home office setting with occasional trips to Ottawa office
Must have a clean driving record (no moving violations or at-fault accidents in the last 3 years) with current ON driver's license (minimum 5 years’ experience)
Ability to stand for long periods to perform essential job functions
Must pass OEM specific AV operator training and certification (estimated 60-80 hours online/in person)
Proficiency in computer software application like Google doc & MS Office Suite
Effective verbal communication skills in front of small groups

Accountability, with the extensive training provided, we rely on our team to show up to work every day as replacements are limited.
Must regularly lift and carry small packages around 10 lbs.
May occasionally lift and carry boxes of supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
