In the News: "Self-Driving Bus in Whitby to Accept Passengers Soon"

The automated WAVE shuttle bus will soon be taking riders along the Whitby waterfront.

Public ridership begins Tuesday, along a six-kilometre route in the Port Whitby area.

Officials have touted WAVE (Whitby Autonomous Vehicle Electric) as emission-free and safe for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

It was funded by the province as well as other partners, including SmartCone Technologies, the Town of Whitby, the Region of Durham, Durham Region Transit, Nokia, Local Motors, Metrolinx, Ontario Tech University, Durham College, Transport Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
